this made me think about how Audre Lorde spoke about poetry - that it was a good medium for people who were poor, or had to work other jobs, because you could jot a couple of lines down on the bus en route to a nursing shift, or when you got back and were eating a quick meal before bed.

Also makes me think about Alice Walker, and her talking about all her writing having a baby screaming in the middle of it after her daughter was born(!)

What I like about the idea of writing not being sacred isn't just that anyone can be a writer, but also that anyone can remain a writer, continue to maintain a writing practice... that age, disability, children, needing to care for others that we love - or needing to be in politics, or simply needing to live for a while can intervene and not take that mode of expression from us.
